First Date: The Sutler, Nashville, TN
Second Date: Gatlinburg Trip
Told from Myranda's perspective:
It was June 2020—peak COVID. Myranda had just graduated from San Diego State University with no plans of leaving the beautiful sunny San Diego she called home -which is now where her and buddy reside. But one morning, with California still shut down, she woke up with a feeling she couldn’t shake.
Her lifelong love of country music, her curiosity about living in a new state, and the stillness of that strange time all collided—and something in her gut told her: Why not now? Why not finally move out of state and experience something different, something she was always curious about? And what better place to move to than Nashville, Tennessee—the country music capital of the world.
She’d even told her friend Natalie back in high school that she’d marry a cowboy one day. Manifestation? Maybe.
Before fully committing to the move, Myranda took a trip with some friends to Lake Tahoe—and somewhere between the mountains and the memories, she felt it. A nudge from God pulling her toward Nashville. After that weekend, she was all in and when Myranda sets her mind to something, there’s no turning back.
She started joining Facebook groups to meet others who had moved or were moving to Nashville and to hopefully find a roommate. That’s when a guy we will call him Jake messaged her saying, “I don’t have roommates for you, but I’ve got a hell of a fun friend group—and I’d love for you to meet them.” Myranda thought, Why not? She didn't know anyone anyways.
So in July 2020, she flew out to Nashville to check out apartments and meet Jake. He was nice, but by the end of the trip, she could tell he was hoping for something more—and she wasn’t. She considered cutting her trip short but something in her said, Stay a little longer. She believe's god was talking to her in that very moment and thankfully he did.
Jake had invited her to a party that night to meet the rest of his friends, and—thankfully—she went because that’s where she met Buddy for the very first time.
It was Sunday, August 2nd, 2020. As soon as Myranda walked into the house party, she spotted Buddy sitting at a table playing a card game with friends. Something about him stood out immediately aside from how hot she thought he was. Confident as always, Myranda walked over, saw an open seat next to him, and said, “Hi! What game are you playing? It looks fun—can you teach me?”
The game was called Ride the Bus—and from that moment on, they were on the ride of a lifetime.
The next day, Myranda messaged Buddy on Instagram… and the rest is history.
Told from Buddy's perspective:
In 2017, after earning his mechanical engineering degree in his home state of Texas, Buddy moved to Nashville. By day he worked, and by night he chased his dream writing songs, singing, and playing music wherever he could. He made countless friends and unforgettable memories touring coast to coast, performing in dive bars, and soaking in the highs and lows of the music world. But after a few years, the lifestyle and industry began to wear on him. As much as he loved the thrill, Buddy knew he wanted a family one day and couldn’t imagine building one while constantly on the road. His heart still longed for adventure, but deep down, he was always that simple South Texas cowboy at heart.
Just before Buddy met Myranda, a friend of a friend was raving about a girl he’d met who was coming to his party. When she walked in, Buddy was shocked at how beautiful she was and his jaw nearly hit the floor. He thought, “Wow…how the hell did he get her?” But the real surprise came when she walked straight up to him, sat down, and started talking like no one else in the room mattered. They talked most of the night, but Buddy, unsure of the situation with the friend, held back from making a move.
The next morning, Myranda messaged him and from that point on, they never stopped talking. She eventually made the move to Nashville, and not long after, during a weekend trip to Gatlinburg, they made it official.
